CA DEMS READY FOR POLITICAL WAR

Posted: November 19, 2016 | Posted by Crystal Whitfield | No Comments
The number one question on our members’ minds is what does a President Trump mean for California?  What are the potential risks and rewards?  Will CA list even further to the Left in reaction to the Rightward tilt of the Federal Government? So far, the answer seems to be that the political leadership in California is going to be combative – a tone that was set the day after the election when Senate pro Tem de León (D-Los Angeles) and California Assembly Speaker Rendon (D-Paramount) released ...

2016 ISSUES

As a statewide association, our primary focus is on legislative and regulatory issues.  This year, on behalf of the commercial real estate industry, we tracked 503 pieces of legislation in the California State Capitol. We saw success on bills reforming ADA lawsuits, leasing language, energy policy, taxation, and water efficiency.  We were able to push back against several efforts to repeal Proposition 13, stack a local air board with political appointees, and severely restrict petitioning of state ...

LEGISLATIVE SUPERMAJORITY UPDATES

Although the state budget no longer requires a 2/3s vote, there are many important policy and procedural issues ...

“You all knew that some things are worth dying for. One’s country is worth dying for, and democracy is worth dying for, because it’s the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man. All of you loved liberty.” – Ronald Reagan, Normandy Speech, 1984 Tomorrow we celebrate Veteran’s Day and want to salute everyone that has served our country. We are in the midst of a peaceful transition of power, a hallmark of why our country is great, but that is made possible by ...
